Growing up in the SF Metro Bay Area I had little to no exposure to Farmer’s life or Ranching (other than Hollywood and TV portrayals). Although I had good physical workout doing maintenance and construction work, that physique became buried under flab after I was pushed into desk jobs. I do think I would be in better shape and have made better adjustment if I had been raised on a farm or ranch. I think the demands of a working ranch or vegetable farm would keep you in good habits. I don’t think I could stand to go back to the city. I’m still waylaid by my ills and it would be a real physical struggle (impossible) to make a living farming (on my own).
